“Richard?”
He nodded.
I searched the grounds and questioned the front desk, but nobody knew where they’d gone.
By morning, Richard had disappeared too.
His room was empty, and hotel staff said he’d checked out without warning us.
I contacted the police.
They searched for two days. Nobody could tell me where either of them had gone.
During those hours, fear gradually turned into suspicion.
Had Jessica willingly left with him?
Maybe she’d finally had enough of our marriage.
Maybe Richard had offered her a life I couldn’t provide.
Then the officers came.
Kevin explained that a small motorboat was found overturned near a shallow stretch of coastline.
Richard had been rescued after reaching shore.
Jessica’s body had been recovered later.
“Why were they together?” I demanded.
“We’re still establishing the circumstances.”
“Did Richard say anything?”
“He said they were returning to the resort when the accident happened.”
“Returning from where?”
