After eight difficult years of marriage, I thought our vacation had given my wife and me a fresh start. Then a millionaire decided he wanted her. I never imagined his pursuit would turn our dream vacation into a nightmare.
“We need to speak with you. We have some news. May we come inside?”
The moment I saw the two officers outside my hotel room, I knew something terrible had happened.
“Did you find Jessica?” I asked. “Please, tell me where my wife is.”
The older officer introduced himself as Kevin.
He waited until I sat down.
“I’m sorry, Mark. Your wife was involved in a boating accident.”
“Is she in the hospital?”

“Jessica didn’t survive.”
