My Husband Started Taking Our 4-Year-Old Son on Regular ‘Boys’ Camping Trips’ – But Then My Son Cheerfully Mentioned Daddy’s Number One Camping Rule

Vanessa was already there.

She climbed out carrying an overnight bag, and Toby ran straight into her arms.

Only then did Greg get back into the SUV.

And drive straight toward the city.

I followed, three cars behind, my chest tight. He parked outside a florist on a leafy side street. Vanessa was already there, arms crossed, smiling at her phone.

That was enough.

Her face lit up when she saw him. Greg smiled back, and Vanessa stepped into his arms. They hugged — not briefly, either.

I gripped the steering wheel as they disappeared inside the florist together.

Minutes later, Greg came out carrying an enormous bouquet of white roses and eucalyptus. He turned to Vanessa and handed it to her. She smiled down at the flowers.

That was enough. I didn’t wait to see where they went next.

“Toby went home already.”

I pulled away from the curb and headed straight for the campground.
