I Told My MIL Not to Pick up My 7-Year-Old from School – At 3:15, His Teacher Called the Principal

“I know.”

“And being Oliver’s grandmother doesn’t give you the right to take him from school after I’ve said you can’t.”

“I know.”

“You knew before today. That’s why you didn’t use your own name.”

She had no answer.

Jason stepped forward.

“This is my fault.”

“Yes, it is.”

He flinched.

“You lied about our money. You lied about working late. Then you involved your mother so you could control when I learned the truth.”

“I was ashamed.”

“Then you should have been ashamed in front of me. I’m your wife. Instead, you made me the last adult in this family to know our home was in trouble.”

Jason lowered his eyes.

“You’re right.”

It was the first time that night he stopped explaining himself.

Then I remembered Oliver sitting in the school office.

“He asked me if you were in trouble.”

Jason’s face changed.

“What?”

“He heard Diane say, ‘You promised me Wendy wouldn’t find out.'”
