I Told My MIL Not to Pick up My 7-Year-Old from School – At 3:15, His Teacher Called the Principal

“What did you do?”

“I moved money around.”

“What does that mean?”

We went inside, and I sent Oliver upstairs.

Then Jason sat at the kitchen table.

“A few months ago, we had more expenses than I expected. I was short.”

“So, you didn’t pay the mortgage.”

“I paid part of it.”

“Without telling me.”

“I thought I’d replace the money with my next paycheck.”

“But you didn’t.”

He shook his head.

Some of the money had gone to bills, a car repair, and credit cards.

Each time I’d asked if we were okay, he’d said yes.

“You lied to me.”

“I was trying to fix it.”

“You let us fall three months behind because you didn’t want me worrying?”

“It wasn’t supposed to get this bad.”

I held up the paper.

“Why was I supposed to be at this appointment?”

“I wanted the counselor to explain our options.”

“You wanted a stranger to tell me what my husband was too afraid to tell me?”
