“Does she know we haven’t separated?”
He hesitated. “Not exactly.”
That hesitation told me more than his answer.
I slept in Noah’s spare bedroom that night, surrounded by his outgrown toys and old schoolbooks.
I wanted to wake him and hold him.
Instead, I stood in his doorway until he rolled over in his sleep.
Eric had made him part of the deception.
He’d brought Noah into a house meant for another woman and asked him to keep it secret from me.
That hurt almost as much as the affair.
The next morning, I called my sister, Melissa.
She came over while Eric took Noah to soccer practice.
I showed her screenshots I’d sent myself from Eric’s phone during the confrontation.
I’d also written down the rental address and the dates I remembered.
Melissa listened without interrupting.
When I finished, she asked, “What do you want to do?”
“I don’t know.”
