Fabian wasn’t allowed to leave with them.
The officers explained that the custody dispute itself would need to be handled through the family court.
They documented the suspected unauthorized entry, the missing folder, and the threats I’d described.
Then Emily arrived.
She walked past Fabian, ignored him, and rushed in to hug her children.
After the officers left and the children were settled with cartoons, Emily told me about her appointment.
She’d been meeting with her attorney to discuss the custody hearing scheduled for the following month.
The blue folder contained screenshots of threats and photographs from the garage incident.
It had notes about occasions when Fabian had arrived unexpectedly or shouted in front of the children.
Her attorney had advised her to preserve the originals and organize the evidence.
She’d already provided electronic copies of the most important material.
“That’s why I told you not to tell the kids yet,” she said. “I didn’t want them worrying about their father fighting for custody.”
