Shopper Berated a Supermarket Employee with Down Syndrome – She Thought No One Would Defend Him, but She Was Wrong

“Who told you that?”

“My daughter saw what happened,” I said.

Nora’s face reddened.

“You’re taking the word of a child over mine?”

“I’m asking what happened,” Alaric replied.

Sasha squeezed my hand, but she didn’t look away.

“He told her to wait,” she said. “She pushed the cart anyway. The bottles fell after that.”

“Children misunderstand things,” Nora snapped.

“Please don’t speak to my daughter that way.”

Nora turned back to Alaric.

“I want to make an official complaint. This employee is clearly incompetent.”

At the word “complaint,” Bryan’s expression changed.

Until then, he’d looked embarrassed and frightened.

Now he looked desperate.

“Please, Mr. Alaric,” he said. “I can clean it up. I can do better.”

Alaric’s eyes moved toward him.

“Bryan, don’t touch the glass. Someone is coming to help.”

“But I don’t want another complaint.”

I caught those words immediately.

Another complaint?

Nora folded her arms.

“So there have been problems with him before. Well, that explains everything.”
