Shopper Berated a Supermarket Employee with Down Syndrome – She Thought No One Would Defend Him, but She Was Wrong

Nora gave a bitter laugh.

“Oh, please. He’s the one who kept apologizing!”

Bryan flinched.

Alaric stepped forward.

“An employee apologizing because you’re upset doesn’t mean he caused the problem.”

Nora rolled her eyes.

“Well, I’m sorry if I upset him. There. Happy?”

It was the kind of apology that somehow blamed the person receiving it.

I was about to speak when Bryan stepped forward.

“Excuse me,” he said.

Everyone turned.

His voice trembled, but he kept going.

“You pushed my cart. You broke those bottles. And you don’t get to tell me I shouldn’t have a job.”

Nora stared at him.

Bryan looked directly at her.

“I work hard here. I’m good at my job.”

For once, Nora had nothing to say.

Alaric broke the silence.

Nora looked around, expecting somebody to support her.

Nobody did.

She snatched up her handbag.

“Unbelievable. I’m never shopping here again.”

Then she marched out through the automatic doors.
