“BEST PILOT EVER.”
I nearly cried when I saw it.
He had spent so much time thinking about what his father would enjoy that he had turned a simple piece of paper into something genuinely meaningful.
“Do you think he’ll like it?” Mason asked.
“I think he’ll love it,” I told him.
He carefully folded the drawing and placed it inside his backpack.
Our mission was officially underway.
Almost Caught at the Airport
Getting to the airport was easy. Keeping ourselves hidden from Tyler was another matter entirely.
We arrived with plenty of time before boarding, checked our flight details, and made our way through the terminal.
Mason was practically vibrating with excitement.
Every few seconds, he wanted to know how much longer we had to wait, whether his father was already on the plane, and whether pilots could somehow sense when their families were nearby.
I answered as patiently as I could while repeatedly reminding him to keep his voice down.
