I could already imagine the laughter.
Without thinking, I began to rise slightly from my seat.
I wanted to see whether Tyler would call us out.
But before I could move any farther, his voice returned over the speakers.
And what he said next made me stop smiling.
A Moment of Uncertainty
There was something deeply personal about the way Tyler spoke.
His announcement no longer sounded like a routine welcome. It sounded as though he had something important to share, something that had been on his mind long before we boarded the plane.
I lowered my phone completely.
Mason’s excitement began giving way to confusion.
He looked from me toward the front of the aircraft, waiting for his father to continue.
I squeezed his hand.
“Let’s listen,” I whispered.
I didn’t know what Tyler was about to say. I didn’t know whether the special person he mentioned was connected to our surprise or whether he was referring to something entirely different.
