I Told My MIL Not to Pick up My 7-Year-Old from School – At 3:15, His Teacher Called the Principal

“She doesn’t get to pick Oliver up unless she asks me first.”

Jason sighed.

“She’s his grandmother.”

That was always his answer when Diane crossed a boundary.

She would hear “not today” and decide it meant, “Convince me.”

She would hear “please ask first” and decide family shouldn’t need permission.

This time, I’d made the rule impossible to misunderstand.

Diane could not pick Oliver up without asking me.

The principal slid the pickup sheet toward me.

“This is today’s sheet.”

I looked down and found Oliver’s name.

Then I read the name written beside it.

My face went hot.

Diane hadn’t signed her own name.

I stared at her.

“Why would you do that?”

She pressed her lips together.

“Diane?”

Nothing.

The principal folded his hands.

“One of our staff members recognized her from a school event. When the name she gave didn’t match what the staff member remembered, we checked Oliver’s authorization.”
