Good News After Tough Times
Patti has been part of the E Street Band since 1984 and married Bruce in 1991. According to Bruce Springsteen’s official website, they raised three children together: Evan James, Jessica Rae, and Sam Ryan.
In 2024, Scialfa publicly revealed that she had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, in 2018. She addressed the diagnosis in “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band,” explaining that the illness affected her ability to perform regularly.

“This affects my immune system, so I have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go,” she said, according to Variety. Patti said she could still occasionally attend a concert and perform several songs but described that limited schedule as her new normal.
Then, in August 2026, Bruce delivered a significant update. During a video message for a Pan-Mass Challenge fundraiser benefiting Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where Patti received treatment, he announced that his wife was in remission.
