“That went well. I think she’s finally coming around.”
“It’s a secret,”
Laura kept washing.

An hour later, we were in bed when Mom called.
“What has she done?! Tell her to stop it right now! I’m begging you!”
I sat up.
“Mom, what’s wrong?”
Mom called.
“The video! Your aunt called me laughing. People are forwarding it, Daniel. Make her take it down!”
Beside me, Laura got out of bed.
She took a duffel bag from the closet.
“What video?” I asked Mom.
Laura folded a shirt and laid it inside. Then she opened a drawer and transferred a stack of clothes to the bag.
Laura got out of bed.
She left the drawer open.
Half her clothes were gone, and the empty space startled me more than the bag.
My mouth went dry. I kicked back the covers to get up.
“Daniel! Are you listening?”
“I’ll call you back.”
