I’d never told Daniel because I didn’t consider it something to boast about.
At the wedding, Richard finished explaining.
Jessica folded her arms.
“So she lent you money. You paid her back. What does that have to do with today?”
Richard stared at her.
“Danielle cleaned my office when I was struggling. She helped me because she knew people depended on me. And my daughter thinks she’s too embarrassing to attend her own son’s wedding.”
“I never said she was a bad person.”
“You said she didn’t belong.”
“She doesn’t know our friends!”
“She knows the groom.”
Jessica flushed as guests turned toward Daniel.
“Dad, you’re making a scene.”
Richard shook his head.
“This wasn’t just another party. It was her son’s wedding.”
Even after hearing the truth, Jessica still believed I didn’t belong.
Richard asked her to apologize.
Jessica refused.
“I’m not apologizing for wanting my wedding to be perfect.”
