“Never judge a woman by the length of her hair.”
Harold chuckled.
“That sounds like something we should print on a T-shirt.”
The Police Question
Kelly returned a little later with a tablet.
She explained that she needed to record the incident and confirm that both passengers were willing to cooperate with the airline’s procedures.
She also asked whether Brittany still wanted the police to meet the aircraft after landing.
Brittany looked at me.
Then she glanced down at her neatly braided hair.
Finally, she looked at her phone.
She had not turned it back on.
“No,” she said quietly. “I don’t think that’s necessary.”
Kelly nodded.
“I’ll still need to document what happened. Both of you should understand that the airline may follow up afterward.”
“I understand,” I replied.
“So do I,” Brittany said.
After Kelly left, I turned toward Brittany.
“May I ask why you changed your mind?”
