I’m the kind of person who cleans before a trip.
I know that’s a bit much.
But you come back exhausted at 11 at night with a car full of laundry, and the last thing on earth you want is to walk into a mess.
So I did the whole apartment the day before we left.
Fresh sheets in the guest room, towels folded on the bed.
I cleaned the bathroom, emptied the trash, wiped the kitchen counters, and even ran the dishwasher so Greg wouldn’t have to figure out which plates were clean.

Honestly, I was glad he’d see the place looking nice.
Dan handed him our spare key on Friday morning before we left.
“Make yourself at home,” he told him.
Greg grinned.
“You know me.”
I would think about that line later.
We got back on Sunday night.
