“Mommy, Grandpa promised me something.”
“What did he promise you, sweetheart?”
“He said that if I let him touch me wherever he wants, he’ll take me to restaurants every week and buy me whatever I want.”
I froze.
For several seconds, I could only stare at my daughter.
“Lily… what did you just say?”
She repeated the exact same words.
My heart began pounding so hard that I could hear it in my ears.
“And what did you tell him?”
She lowered her eyes.
“I said I’d try.”
A cold shiver ran through my entire body.
“Try WHAT?”
My daughter shrugged.
“Let him touch me.”
I knelt in front of her.
“Lily, has Grandpa ever done anything to you that you didn’t want him to do?”
She shook her head.
“No, Mommy. But I was scared.”
“Scared of what?”
“That it would feel bad again.”
Tears filled my eyes.
