The “You Look Like You Love Me” singer was not lucky enough to meet Dolly. Being invited to honor her meant accepting an opportunity she could no longer have in person.
Speaking to ABC News’ Lara Spencer, Ella said, “I never got to meet Dolly and if this is my way to get to pay a little bit of my respects, then I’m just so honored and I can’t believe I got asked to do it.”
For the performance, Ella exchanged her playful mini for an ivory gown with draped, asymmetric fabric over one shoulder. Rhinestone-covered sheer mesh extended across her neckline and down fitted sleeves, giving the softer cream fabric an extra flash beneath the lights.
