“What? That’s impossible!”
“Vanessa authorized the return.”
Richard called his wife repeatedly. She didn’t answer.
Richard seemed terrified.
Soon workers were carrying out designer chairs, a cream sofa, and an enormous dining table.
Our neighbor, Mrs. Parker, stepped onto her porch.
“Richard, redecorating?”
“Obviously!”
“We’re collecting rented furniture, ma’am,” the driver explained.
We’re here to collect the furniture.
Richard glared at him, then at me. “What are you staring at?”
“Just wondering where you’ll sit tonight.”
“Mind your business!”
“Sounds like your problem, not mine.”
Karma had struck Richard right where it hurt most — his precious wealth.
But that was only the beginning. And something told me my chance to get even was finally coming.
Wondering where you’ll sit tonight.
Mrs. Parker covered her mouth as Richard stormed inside.
Then she leaned toward me. “Isn’t Richard throwing that fancy party tomorrow?”
“He’s been bragging about it for weeks.”
Why would Vanessa empty their living room just twenty-four hours before her husband’s biggest party?
