“Let go.”
I pulled toward the doors.
“Let go.”
“You humiliated me in front of everyone. Apologize.”
His grip tightened, catching my tote between us.
The warning chime sounded.
I tried to turn toward the platform, but he pulled my arm back. I couldn’t see my friends past the doorframe.
“Marcus!” I called.
The warning chime sounded.
The doors slid shut.
The platform began slipping past the glass.
I searched it for my friends until the train carried us into darkness.
I was still beside him, my arm in his hand.
My heart was hammering so hard I could hear it. His fingers pressed into my arm, and the closed doors felt like a wall.
The doors slid shut.
“Not so mouthy without your friends, huh?”
He sneered, and cold fear crawled down my spine.
All I wanted was for him to let go… to escape. The carriage was almost empty now, and I didn’t even want to think about what he might do to me.
