A Boy at School Kept Insisting He Was My Son’s Brother – When I Finally Saw His Face, My Knees Nearly Gave Out

We decided not to confront Mark alone.

Our parents’ anniversary dinner was scheduled for Tuesday.

Mark expected Beth to stay away, just as she had for years.

She didn’t.

When Beth walked through the door holding Stefan’s hand, my mother stood so quickly her chair scraped across the floor.

Cole stared at Stefan.

For once, neither boy looked angry.

They just looked confused.

Mark returned from the hallway.

The second he saw Beth, his face went white.

Then he said:

“She’s here to cause trouble.”

Beth placed the forged letter on the table.

I placed my medical records beside it.

Grace laid out copies of the bank transfers.

Cole looked from me to Stefan.

Then to Mark.

“Is he really my brother?”

Nobody answered quickly enough.

Stefan tightened his grip on Beth’s hand.

My mother started crying.

My father picked up the letter and studied it carefully.
