I did it with a lot of love, but I’m sad because nobody liked it

The Secret of the Peacock — Complete History

Birds

For over thirty years, my grandmother had placed the same tablecloth on the dining table.

It was white, old and embroidered with red and blue flowers. But what caught the most attention was the huge peacock embroidered in the center.

Every time I asked him about him, my grandmother would answer the same thing:

“Someday you’ll understand why that peacock is so important.

I always thought it was just one of those stories that grandparents invent to keep a family tradition alive.

Until that Sunday.

She was 82 years old and lived alone in an old house, surrounded by trees. I used to visit her every Sunday.

That morning, when I came in, I found her sitting in front of the table.

It was pale.

“Grandma, what happened?”

He didn’t answer.

He pointed to the window.

I walked up and saw a peacock standing in the garden.

Birds

It was huge.

And the strangest thing was that it had exactly the same colors as the animal embroidered on the tablecloth.

The peacock slowly walked to the door.

Then he dropped something in front of us.

A small oxidized metal box.

My grandmother started shaking.

“It can’t be…

What is this?

She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

That box disappeared thirty years ago.

I picked it up and opened it.

Inside was an old photograph.

In it appeared my grandfather, my grandmother and a young man that I had never seen.

Behind the photograph was a phrase:

“If one day the peacock returns, it means that the truth can no longer remain hidden.”

Birds

I looked at my grandmother.

Who is this man?

She closed her eyes.

“He’s your father.

I felt like I was short of breath.

“My father?” But you always told me he died before I was born.

My grandmother started crying.

I lied to you.

Before I could ask you why, someone knocked on the door.

Toc. Toc. Toc.

My grandmother got up terrified.

“Don’t open.

I looked out the window.

A man in his sixties was standing in front of the house.

And he had in his hand a small medallion with the same symbol of the peacock.

Birds

My grandmother whispered:

“It’s him.

I opened the door.

The man looked at me for several seconds.

Then he said:

“You’ve grown a lot.
